Scotland fans can avoid soaring Euro 2024 hotel prices with bargain stay in world’s largest brothel
TARTAN Army foot soldiers could book a Euros stay in a hotel where 120 prostitutes ply their trade in the world’s largest brothel, we can reveal.
Travelling Scotland fans will face stiff competition from thousands of excited supporters on a mission for digs in Germany during the summer footie showpiece.
And that means some could be tempted to book a bed in a pink eleven-storey building in Cologne’s red light district where an army of sex workers get through 1,000 customers every day.
It could be tricky to get a good night’s kip with so much off-the-field action going on in the swinging corners of the sprawling Pascha Club on the city’s aptly-named Horn Street.
The bordello also has a lap-dancing bar and nightclub for Scotland fans who prefer saying “yes sir, we can boogie” and “no, sir” to the venue’s more salacious services.
But the fact rooms are cheaper than standard hotels where prices are shooting up due to high demand could be a perk for fans on a budget.
A bed for the night comes in at just £169 whereas the cost of some basic hotel rooms could set you back a whopping £1,100 or more, with prices jumping by over 1,000 per cent from usual prices.
Famous Tartan Army Magazine editor Iain Emerson said: “I know some people who are going to be sleeping in vans so any room would certainly be an upgrade to that.
“The Tartan Army are always on the lookout for somewhere that offers good value so I’m sure there will be no shortage of customers eager to book up.
“But they’ll have to be quick because the tournament is getting closer and excitement is reaching fever pitch.”
The brothel first opened its doors in 1972 under the name “Eros Center” as authorities tried to move the red light district away from the city centre.
Some of the women who work there rent rooms full-time while others live elsewhere but all have to pay a six Euros “pleasure tax” to ply their trade.
The venue was at the centre of controversy when Germany hosted the 2006 World Cup after protestors raised concerns and threats were made.
Brothel bosses later decided to black out the flags of Saudi Arabia and Iran which were pasted on the walls along with emblems of the other nations taking part in the tourney.
But fans will have to be quick if they want to snap up one of the 13 rooms available in the huge knocking shop which is located around four miles away from FC Koln’s stadium.
Steve Clarke’s men will be aiming to shaft Switzerland in the RheinEnergiesStadion on June 19, five days after starting the tourney with a bang in a drooling Munich curtain-raiser against the host nation.
They then complete their group stage fixtures against Hungary at the Stuttgart Arena in what could be a make-or-break clash.
Clarke’s squad will be hoping to avoid a premature exit and go deep into the tourney by qualifying for the knock-out stages of a major competition for the first time.
