EastEnders legend revealed as fourth star to sign up to Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special
AN EastEnders legend has been revealed as the fourth star to sign up to the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special.
Larry Lamb is officially getting ready to get his dancing shoes on in a bid to be crowned Christmas Champion 2022, as the show returns to the Ballroom.
The 75-year-old is amongst six celeb contestants who will be grooving away for the BBC special, and he’ll be paired with Strictly pro Nadiya Bychkova.
Of his return, the actor said: “Christmas has come early! I can’t wait to get on the dance floor and learn a brand new skill ready for all those festive parties.
“I am excited yet incredibly nervous but I know Nadiya will look after me, and I look forward to adding a bit of extra sparkle to Christmas day.”
Larry is known for many of his acting roles, including Archie Mitchell in BBC soap EastEnders.
The star also played the role of Mick Shipman in comedy series Gavin & Stacey and he presents the Channel 5 docu-series Britain by Bike.
Each of the six couples will perform a Christmas inspired routine with the hope of impressing the judges, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke, Head Judge Shirley Ballas, and the voting audience.
Radio One DJ Rickie Haywood-Williams and podcast star Rosie Ramsey will also be battling for the glitterball trophy.
As well as Alexandra Mardell – an actor best known for the role of Emma Brooker in the ITV soap opera Coronation Street and Kelly Horton in Vera.
Speaking about taking part, Alexandra said: “I’ve grown up with Strictly Come Dancing, and my Mum always said she’d love to see me on the show so this really is the best Christmas present I could give her.
“I can’t wait to get into the training room and see what festive moves I can bring to the table!”
Alexandra will be paired with Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer Kai Widdrington.
