What time does Lidl open on Sundays? Opening hours explained
Its been a long week, Saturday was a busy one, and this Sunday you just want to kick back and relax.
You’ve had a lie in to catch up on some sleep, and now you’re thinking of binge-watching a spot of Netflix or just having some friends round for a cuppa or a meal.
But just when you think you’re all set for the day, you realise you’ve run out of milk, or some other essential item – meaning you’ll need to make a quick run to the shops.
And if you’re expecting guests you might want to throw a pack of biscuits into the trolley as well, or buy some ingredients to whip up dinner for them.

What time is Lidl open on Sundays?
As is the case with most supermarkets and stores, opening times for Lidl branches can differ on a Sunday compared to the rest of the week.
Most Lidl stores will be open from the slightly later hour of 11am, staying open until 5pm – which differs from the usual opening times of 7am to 11pm during the week.
However, times can vary from store to store, with some opening from 10am-4pm – so it’s best to check double check your local branch’s opening times.
You can do this easy by using Lidl’s store finder tool on their website. Simply pop in your postcode and it will provide you the opening times for your closest store, along with directions.
Does Lidl offer click and collect?
Unfortunately Lidl does not currently offer a click and collect service.
They have confirmed this on their website, saying that they do not offer either this service or home delivery, nor do they have a stock checking system online or in their customer services department.

Why are opening times different on Sundays? Trading laws explained
Opening times can vary on Sundays due to trading laws that have been in place since the early 90s.
The Sunday Trading Act – established in July 1994 – regulates Sunday shop opening hours in England and Wales.
It states that large shops may open for no more than six continual hours between the period 10am and 6pm.
All large shops must also close on Easter Sunday and on Christmas Day.
Not all stores fall under the trading act, however, as shops under 280 square metres don’t need to follow the Sunday Trading Act.
This means smaller stores can be open to customers any day of the year at any hour.
Some larger stores are also exempt from the trading laws, including:
- Shops at road services
- Stores in airports and train stations
- Registered pharmacies
- Motoring supply stores
- Farms
- Exhibition stands.
