Pensioner ‘rescued’ from Covid ward by anti-vaxxers dies of Covid 10 days later
The anti-vaxxer told his friend: 'If you stay here, they're going to f****** kill you, Joe.’
A pensioner struggling to breathe with coronavirus was ‘saved’ from a hospital by anti-vaxxers – but died just over a week later.
Footage sees Antonio Mureddu tell friend Joe McCarron, 67, that ‘lying’ doctors would ‘f***ing kill him’ if he stayed in Letterkenny University Hospital in Ulster.
Medics plead with Joe to stay, warning he may not live if he follows Antonio’s ‘dangerous’ advice during a tense incident on September 14.
The former radio DJ returned home but was rushed back into hospital two days later. He was put on a ventilator but died after a week.
Antonio, a restaurant owner, ‘rescued’ Joe with the help of members of the Common Law Information Centre, which argues that legislation only applies to people if they consent to it, the Irish Times reports.
The video, filmed by Antonio, shows Joe sit in a wheelchair as he’s told: ‘We are going home, you are safe. You follow me and stay behind, nobody will touch you’.
A doctor later leans down to speak directly to the patient, saying: ‘You have the right to decide what you want to do, but I don’t think what he [Antonio] is saying is right at all.
‘You’re barely able to breathe now. We want you to stay to help you.’
Former Italian soldier Antonio cuts in saying: ‘If you stay here, they’re going to f****** kill you, Joe.’
The medic keeps his calm, telling Joe: I’m very worried about you. I want you to stay [in hospital].
‘I think he is saying something very dangerous. What he is saying is wrong and very dangerous and I think he is endangering your life.
‘It’s a very difficult disease that you have, and I’m not lying to you, you could die, but this could be your best chance in the hospital. Getting the oxygen and getting the support we’re giving to you.’
Antonio warns Joe ‘these people, they are lying’, adding: ‘It’s better if he dies in the house than die in here… he’s going to die with us.’
In a video published later, he claimed his friend had requested his assistance.
But Joe’s wife of 38 years Una slammed the actions of his ‘reckless’ friends after her husband died on September 24.
A statement said: ’Una would like to thank the staff and apologise for the actions of Joe’s so-called reckless friends earlier in the week.
‘They did not help Joe’s recovery in any way. We would encourage everyone to follow proper medical advice.’
A senior Garda has been appointed to oversee an investigation into the incident.
A statement said: ‘A Garda Síochána continues to investigate a number of recent incidents which occurred at Letterkenny University Hospital.’
