MARY Berry has to use binoculars to check on contestants in her new cookery show after the BBC made her quarantine on a balcony.
The bizarre anti-Covid measure means the 85-year-old stands on a specially built 15ft-high viewing platform above the giant kitchen on Celebrity Best Home Cook.
The Beeb believes it is the most effective way to keep Mary safe.
But her elevated status means she has to shout questions down to contestants and use binoculars to watch as they prepare the food.
One, Celebs Go Dating receptionist Tom Read Wilson, said: “Mary, for the whole thing, because of Covid, was on a kind of beautiful mezzanine that they built for her.
“And they gave her a pair of beautiful opera glasses so she could look over and see what we’re up to, which was just great.

“I couldn’t be happier about her being there.”
The show, set to air on BBC One later this year, only sees Mary come down from the platform to judge the finished dishes.
They are sampled from individual plates on tables socially distanced from everyone in the studio.
