KUWTK: Kourtney Kardashian Posts Glam & Sparkly Christmas Selfie
The reality star’s look was inspired by an actress, model, and writer who was named one of the most beautiful women almost 60 years ago.
Earlier this week, Kourtney Kardashian shared a glamorous and sparkly selfie inspired by the Christmas season. The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star’s look was inspired by an actress, model and writer who was named one of the most beautiful women almost 60 years ago. Not too long ago, Khloe Kardashian confirmed that the annual Kardashian Jenner Christmas Eve party was canceled.
The family decided to call off the holiday bash because of the coronavirus pandemic. To make up for the lack of holiday festivities this year, the Kardashians and Jenners have been sharing other Christmas inspired content on social media. This week, Kourtney recreated an iconic look.
On Friday, Kourtney posted a picture of her replicating a fashionable look from the 1960s. She wore her hair in bangs and had on bold green eyeshadow and a touch of eyeliner. To complete the look, she wore soft red lipstick. Kardashian had green glitter in her hair and red Christmas decor earnings. Her picture was accompanied by the Playboy magazine cover that inspired her selfie. The caption read “1966” because that’s the year the look appeared on the infamous magazine.
Kourtney’s look is inspired by Susan Bernard, an actress, model, and writer. She was born on February 11, 1948, in Los Angeles. Both of her parents worked in show biz which is how she was introduced to the industry. In 1966, Susan accompanied her father to the Playboy magazine office in Chicago. She caught the attention of editors according to the magazine representatives. In December of that year, she became Playmate of the Month, which is the look Kourtney replicated. Bernard portrays one of the biggest beauty trends from the '60s: bright blue eyeshadow, winged eyeliner, and mauve colored lipstick. Playboy named her one of the 100 most beautiful women of the century. Unfortunately, Susan passed away in June of 2019.
Fashion is almost always inspired by the fashion of those before us. We enjoyed Kourtney’s recreation of Susan’s iconic look from the 60s. Not only was it festive, but it also commemorates the icons that roamed the entertainment industry before the Keeping Up with the Kardashians family. We hope to see more Christmas inspired looks from the Kardashian-Jenners this season!
