Tottenham fans will likely remember that it was a hectic transfer deadline day back in the summer when the club signed Ryan Sessegnon from Fulham and Giovani Lo Celso on loan from Real Betis in the dying hours (BBC).
A new report has now suggested that Tottenham’s decision on whether to activate Lo Celso’s loan clause that will allow them to purchase him for a reduced price this month could go down to the wire too.
Spurs have the option to purchase the player now for €32m or wait until the summer where it will become €40m, a figure they would be forced to pay if they qualify for the Champions League (ABC Sevilla).
It has been reported this week that Daniel Levy is keen on getting Betis to reduce the price even further this month (inews), but Diario de Sevilla say the Spanish club are not interested.
Betis are confident that Spurs will activate and pay the €32m clause and will not contemplate reducing the price further.
As a result, Spurs may leave it until the last moment, which would give Betis little time to spend said money.
