GolfNorth Properties to Purchase Historic Salmon Arm Golf Club
GolfNorth Properties, Canada’s largest consolidator of public golf courses, has entered into an agreement to purchase the historic Salmon Arm Golf Club (SAGC) in British Columbia’s stunning Shuswap Region, a mere 5,608 kms from Cape Breton Highlands Links and Keltic Lodge (GolfNorth’s most eastern property). SAGC was established in 1928, as a humble 6-hole course with sand greens and rubber tee mats. Membership grew quickly, as did the development of the property, and by 2000, there was a gorgeous clubhouse and a championship 18-hole course, designed by renowned architect Les Furber. The original 9-hole course was renovated at the same time, which launched Salmon Arm Golf Club into the ranks of the very best golf experiences in the country.

GolfNorth Properties is a golf and resort management company, based in Kitchener-Waterloo Ontario. Founded in 1994, the company has expanded steadily, and is a national leader in the consolidation and management of golf properties. With the addition of Salmon Arm Golf Club, GolfNorth now operates 32 golf properties in Canada, from British Columbia to Cape Breton. When combined with Cape Breton Highlands Links in Nova Scotia and the Ridge at Manitou in Ontario, Salmon Arm Golf Club becomes the third GolfNorth property to be ranked in the SCOREGolf Top 100.
“We are thrilled to be moving into British Columbia. Salmon Arm is a beautiful city and the largest urban center in the Shuswap,” said GolfNorth President and CEO, Shawn Evans. Salmon Arm – Shuswap is strategically located between Calgary and Vancouver on the Trans Canada Highway at junction 97 to the South Okanagan, thus readily providing access to the 300,000 residents of southern B.C. “GolfNorth wishes to extend a warm welcome and thank you to the Salmon Arm Board of Directors for all their cooperation and hard work in putting this transaction together.” Mike Garside, GolfNorth’s Chief Operating Officer said, “We are incredibly excited to be expanding into B.C. and look forward to working with the key management team at SAGC.”
The membership of Salmon Arm Golf Club held a special meeting earlier this month, where the proposal to sell the property to GolfNorth was unanimously approved. A spokesperson for the Board of Directors explained to the assembly, “we feel that this arrangement is the best way to guarantee the successful operation of SAGC and that the course will be available for play for years to come.”
