Yeleussinov's opponent named
Yesterday we reported that 2016 Olympic Gold medal winner Daniyar Yeleussinov (6-0, 3) [Данияр Маратұлы Елеусінов] wasn't able to fight Miguel Zamudio (43-12-1, 27) tomorrow, as planned, due to the Maryland commission refusing to sanction Zamudio as an opponent at 150lbs.
Today we found out who has replaced the Mexican veteran, and as expected it's not a particularly great change of opponent.
Instead of fighting a guy with over 40 wins Yeleussinov 27 year old Chilean fighter Luis Norambuena (3-1-1), who lost in his US debut just over 2 weeks ago.
Although Norambuena is a more natural fighter at around 150lbs, regularly fighting just over the Welterweight limit, he is a novice, recent lost and has shown no power, with all 5 of his bouts going the distance. Although he's never been stopped it's still hard to get too excited about his chances against someone as good as Yeleussinov, especially given the fact he is such a late replacement, coming in on super short notice for the bout.
