[Football] Overton named a finalist for Cliff Harris Award
Senior defensive end Chris Overton was named a finalist for the fifth annual Cliff Harris Award as announced by the Little Rock Touchdown Club and Wright Lindsey Jennings recently.
The award is presented to the nation's top small college defensive player representing more than 5,000 defensive players from almost 500 NAIA, NCAA Divison II and Division III colleges and universities.
Overton, from Springfield, Ill., earned American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) NAIA Coaches' All-America First Team honors, after leading the NAIA with a school-record 14.5 sacks this season. The converted linebacker set a St. Ambrose single-game record with 4.5 sacks in the Bees' 35-29 win over Robert Morris on Oct. 28.
A first team all-conference selection, Overton finished second in the NAIA with 21 tackles for loss. He also led the team with three forced fumbles.
