Istanbul (dpa) - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan responded sharply to the US threat to cut aid to countries who vote against Washington at the UN General Assembly on Jerusalem, over its decision to recognize the contested city as Israellsquo;s capital."Mr Trump, you can not buy the democratic will of Turkey with your dollars," Erdogan said at an awards ceremony in Ankara. "And I appeal to the entire world ... Never sell your will for petty dollars in your struggle for democracy."Saying that the US was known as the "cradle of democracy," Erdogan added: "The world will teach America at this point a very good lesson."Turkey and Yemen, representing Islamic and Arab groups, have presented the resolution against the US move to the General Assembly. The US has said it is "taking names" of who votes, with Trump threatening to cut aid. "Let them vote against us, welsquo;ll save a lot."
