Innoson boss flown to Lagos in shorts
The headlines of the mainstream Nigerian newspapers for Thursday, December 20, are focused on the controversial arrest of Innoson boss, Chief Innocent Chukwuma.
Vanguard reports that on a day waves of condemnation trailed his arrest, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, yesterday, flew Chairman of Innoson Group of Companies, Chief Innocent Chukwuma, to Lagos in shorts, according to one of his aides.
Chief Chukwuma, was however, released, last night. EFCC which confirmed the release said the Innoson boss was arrested for alleged tax fraud and forgery.

The Nation reports that the former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar was challenged yesterday to prove that he funded President Muhammadu Buhari’s 2015 campaign.
Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai threw the challenge and stated why the former vice president quit the All Progressives Congress (APC) — there was no room for him to run for president after governors endorsed Buhari for a second term.

The Guardian reports that a humanitarian crisis may soon hit some communities in Boki Local Council of Cross River state.
This followed the illegal migration of over 8,000 Cameroonians from the English-speaking (Anglophone) part of the country.
The upsurge was caused by the crisis from the struggle for independence by the Anglophone Cameroonians in the country.

The Punch reports that the Members of the Federal Executive Council, on Wednesday, embarked on a marathon meeting that saw them approving contracts totalling about N960bn.
The contracts cut across different sectors such as road, aviation, education and transport, among others.
After many hours, the meeting, which started at 11am, was adjourned at about 5.20pm to reconvene on Thursday in order to conclude deliberations.

This Day reports that barely 48 hours after a chairmanship candidate in the recently concluded national convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prof. Taoheed Adedoja, sued the party, another aggrieved group has set up a parallel office in Abuja, promising to also constitute its own national executive by January.
However, the PDP has dismissed the emergence of a splinter group, saying that it was completely “unperturbed by the comical acts” of some individuals who make outlandish claims in the media regarding the party.
