Senior British minister sacked in wake of porn scandal

London (dpa) - A senior British cabinet minister and ally of Prime Minister Theresa May has been forced to resign after an investigation concluded that he breached the ministerial code.First Secretary of State Damian Green admitted he made "misleading" statements about allegations that pornography was found on his parliamentary computer in 2008."From the outset I have been clear that I did not download or view pornography on my parliamentary computers," he said in a letter to May.Asking him to resign, May wrote that his conduct "falls short of the seven principles of public life and is a breach of the ministerial code."It is the latest setback for May‘s government, after the resignation of defence minister Michael Fallon and international development secretary Priti Patel in November.Green faced calls last month to step down as allegations of inappropriate behaviour of a sexual nature were being investigated.The 61-year-old had been under fire since a woman accused him of touching her knee at a bar two years ago.The Sunday Times newspaper then reported that police had found pornography on his parliamentary computer during a raid in 2008. He denied the claim, which was made by a former police chief, and at the time called it "political smear."
