Governor Ganduje honoured by traditional rulers in south-east, becomes Ochizuru Oha 1 of Igbo land
The South East Council of Traditional Rulers (SECTR) has conferred the chieftaincy title of Ochizuru Oha 1 of Igbo land on Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state, Vanguard has reported.
The title, according to the report, means ‘general leader’.
NAIJ.com learnt that a statement by the traditional rulers and signed by its administrative secretary, Uche Elekwa, confirmed this adding that the honour was in recognition of the role the governor played in averting the crisis that would have befallen the nation.

“This award is in recognition of the singular role you played in averting the calamity that would have befallen our dear country due to the activities of some misguided elements.
“We also recognise the conducive environment the igbos are enjoying in carrying out their businesses in Kano State.
“The council acknowledges and appreciates Ganduje’s untiring effort in resolving the dispute between the northern youths and their Igbo counterpart as a result of the quit notice the Arewa youths issued to Igbos living in the northern part of the country,” the statement said.
The information, youth and sport commissioner, Malam Muhammad Garba, said the Governor was happy with the recognition.
He also said the governor promised to do more in cementing the relationship between the north and the south.

“The Governor is happy by this recognition, this award is recognising handwork, which we appreciate and will definitely enhance national integration,” he said.
NAIJ.com earlier reported how Governor Abdullahi Ganduje recently disclosed that N208 million had been spent by his administration for the empowerment of 5,200 Mai Shayi (tea sellers) in the state.
The governor made the comments during the distribution of the items to the 5,200 tea sellers in 44 local government areas of Kano State, on Saturday, November 11.
