Paul Merson has suggested Jack Wilshere should cut his losses and move away from Arsenal to help his career.
Wilshere, who has been with the Gunners since he joined their academy aged nine, has made only four Premier League appearances this season.
The England international showed plenty of promise as a young player but has had his career blighted by a string of injuries.
But Merson, who served as an Arsenal player for twelve years has said on talkSPORT’s Drive show that Wilshere’s days at the north London club could be numbered if he can’t secure a spot in the first team this season.
Merson said: “I think he has to leave anyway. I think come January he must sit on that bench and look at that midfield and think ‘how do I not play in this team?’
