I believe this just OSRS Gold not only the debate for having an Automod notify prospective new posters of this'gentleman's agreement', or even formally separating them. You have a virtual'desire route' going on here where your community has made a decision to segregate the content, don't you feel you need to hear them? These are all growing pains and nothing else which can't be sorted out over the years, its one thing to say that no one gets the drive or capacity to keep a filter right now but please don't make it outside to be an impossible effort. In addition, I feel like I'm at a soviet court house and the bailiff was just told to take the guy who jaywalked, bro you do not have to delete OSRS or phishing posts in this case just have automod comment on it with information pointing folks in the ideal direction.
Unless we are talking about a filter restricting what can be said on the subreddit I'm really confused about why anyone would want to bypass a filter which supplies them with information. If allegedlyy'all attempted to knock down some key questions or phrases being thrown around this sub from time to time then yeah it's a'problem' (You guys wouldn't be the first game sub to have it, blink twice if Jagex hasy'all hostage) for you guys but I do not see many people hoping to submit"connection - totally no ph15h guiys" or even"I think this is a p h 1 5 h ing attempt men" or"look at this cool shed I received on oh ess are ess" just so they do not have a comment on their post from a bot.
I'm just trying to be more thorough in my answers. The email entry filter was viewed as a very low priority fix, and such articles were (and still are) getting caught in other filters, therefore it was deemed unneeded for now. However, the other filters aren't specifically designed for those posts, so only part are becoming entangled. Once more of the vital tasks are finished, we'll take a look at a number of the lower priority ones. It wouldn't take much time to get a setup set up to begin testing an improved version. Also, the majority of subreddit moderation is not visible publicly, so while it may appear that we are not doing anything at times, there is a great deal that goes on behind the scenes in addition to approving/removing posts and comments.
Our concern about filtering in this case is not whether someone will try to bypass it, and that remark was just to further the point that filters are not always effective. Perhaps mentioning the intentional bypassing was a bit off subject for my prior comment. As previously mentioned, the amount of OSRS-specific articles (not pertinent to RS3) submitted this is minimal as is, plus they don't amount to a prominent portion of our everyday articles. However, those posts are outnumbered by others which compare or link to both games.
These will probably match the criteria to also obtain a reply redirecting them to 2007 Runescape when the intention was to post, which is not ideal as it would be irrelevant to this post topic and likely lead to complaints. Additionally, if the criteria is too specific, it is improbable that the few articles that are designed to obtain this response will activate it. It's much easier for a person to identify these posts compared to a bot, and setting up it to work as planned is much simpler said than done for advantage.
