The Gazette reports figures from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment show meth ranked among the fastest-growing drugs in fatalities in the state from 2016 to 2017. NEW SCOTLAND, N.Y. (AP) — New York State Police say a toddler showed a trooper a bag of marijuana during a traffic stop, resulting in the arrest of the child's mother and the man she was riding with. State police say two troopers stopped a car Thursday outside Albany and found the butt ends of marijuana cigarettes in the ashtray and a 3-year-old girl who wasn't in a child's car seat. GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — A north Florida man is accused of trying to kill his ex-boss. Alachua County Sheriff's spokesman Art Forgey says deputies arrested 34-year-old Carlos Gilberto Morales-Serrano on Saturday. Forgey says Morales-Serrano fired repeated shots at the owner of Bakery Mill and Deli in Gainesville early Saturday. The restaurant owner was shot once in the arm. CHICAGO (AP) — Grain futures were mostly lower Monday in early trading on the Chicago Board of Trade. Wheat for Sept. delivery was declined 21.20 cents at $4.88 a bushel; Sept. corn was off 1 cent at $3.5320 a bushel; Dec. oats fell .40 cents at $2.47 a bushel while Sep. soybeans was rose 11.80 cents at 8.3820 a bushel. ENFIELD, Conn. (AP) — Police say a 16-year-old boy has been stabbed to death in Connecticut. Enfield police say Justin Brady was stabbed in the front yard of a home in town just after midnight Monday. He did not live at the home. Chief Alaric Fox tells the Journal Inquirer that police are actively looking for someone in connection with the death but did not release a name. Fox said Brady and the other person knew each other. HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Pennsylvania's state prisons are resuming normal visits and all inmates are no longer confined to their cells, 12 days after officials imposed the temporary rules while they addressed a spate of illnesses among guards and prisoners linked to synthetic drugs. SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Officials say a man has died after being struck by an oncoming train in Salt Lake City. KSL-TV reports that the Utah Transit Authority says the incident happened Sunday night around 9:45 p.m. UTA spokesman Carl Arky says the 25-year-old man was walking on the tracks when a westbound Greenline TRAX train hit him. PUYALLUP, Wash. (AP) — Firefighters in Puyallup battled a blaze at an orthodontic business in Puyallup. The fire started around 9 p.m. Sunday at Orthodontic Excellence near 39th Avenue Southwest and 94th Avenue East. KIRO-TV reports that the fire became so intense, crews had to back out of the inside of the building and fight the fire defensively. The roof eventually collapsed. BRIDGEWATER, Mass. (AP) — A Massachusetts high school student is facing charges for calling in what police say was a hoax bomb threat to a school bus, resulting in its evacuation. State police said they responded to a rest stop on Route 24 in Bridgewater on Friday afternoon for reports of a bomb threat on a bus carrying Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical High School students. SEATTLE (AP) — Police are trying to find the person who shot a man overnight near Rainier Beach High School in Seattle, leaving him with life-threatening injuries. A Muni bus crashed into a building at Lombard and Scott streets Monday morning, injuring four people and tying up traffic, authorities said. According to the San Francisco Fire Department, the bus crossed the center divide and collided with a tree and a building housing a dry cleaner in the 2300 block of Lombard Street shortly after 6 a.m. It cleaved the tree in two, and came to a stop with the front half of the bus on the sidewalk and the rear portion in Lombard Street. NORTH GREENBUSH, N.Y. (AP) — Police in upstate New York say a Troy police officer with multiple excessive force allegations got into a fight with another man at a Little League filed over the weekend. Officer Dominick Comitale, who was off-duty at the time, was charged with harassment at a Little League filed Saturday in North Greenbush. The Times Union of Albany reports Comitale allegedly elbowed another man in the face during a dispute over field cleanup. A Little League attorney says it will ask Comitale not to return to the league's fields.

BYRNES MILL, Mo. (AP) — Authorities say a man was killed and a woman was injured in an eastern Missouri house explosion. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that High Ridge Fire District spokesman John Barton says the explosion was reported around 5:15 p.m. Sunday in a Jefferson County neighborhood. CINCINNATI (AP) — Employees have returned to work at a bank building in which four people, including the gunman, were killed last week. The lobby of the Fifth Third Bancorp's headquarters building remains closed Monday as investigators continue trying to learn why a 29-year-old man opened fire in the downtown Cincinnati high-rise.
