SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The U.S. Interior Department has expanded hunting at Utah's Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge. It's one of 30 national wildlife refuges across the country where U.S. Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke is expanding hunting and fishing. Interior officials say in a statement that 40 percent of the population aged 16 and older do wildlife activities like hunting, fishing and birding. HONOLULU (AP) — The Hawaii Charter School Commission is replacing the board of an Oahu school following concerns about its failure to manage the school's financial performance. JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) — The family of a 20-year-old Fairbanks man who was killed by police says they are preparing a wrongful death lawsuit against Alaska authorities. The Juneau Empire reports three Alaska State Troopers and two Fairbanks police officers fired upon Cody Eyre in December 2017. Troopers say Eyre "brandished his firearm toward law enforcement officers," resulting in police opening fire. SPRINGDALE, Ark. (AP) — Jonathan Perrodin recently rode his bicycle west along West Maple Avenue in Springdale. A driver in a large pickup honked from the parking lot as Perrodin rode by Northwest Medical Center. "He didn't pass me until we crossed 71 Business, but then he gunned his big V-8 diesel to get around me," Perrodin said. "But I know I was in the right." ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) — The first woman to win the Miss America crown without having to don a swimsuit says she's glad she didn't have to. Nia Imani Franklin, who won the title Sunday night in Atlantic City while competing as Miss New York, said the changes in the 98-year-old are a welcome modernization. Meeting reporters soon after winning the crown, Franklin said she's glad there was no swimsuit competition because it enabled her to eat a little more. FREEPORT, Maine (AP) — Maine-based L.L. Bean has doubled the number of electric car charging stations, making it the largest charging station in the state. L.L. Bean installed eight Tesla super chargers last winter and added another eight Level II chargers this summer, for a total of 16 car chargers.
