Reese Witherspoon in Talks to Return for ‘Legally Blonde 3’

Reese Witherspoon is in talks to return for a third film in the “Legally Blonde” franchise, an individual with knowledge told TheWrap. Kirsten Smith and Karen McCullah, who adapted the novel by Amanda Brown for the first film, are in final talks to write the script for MGM. Mrac Platt and his Platt Productions president Adam Siegel are producing alongside Witherspoon through her Hello Sunshine banner. MGM is still looking for a director. Woman dies after driving wrong way on I-680, crashing into center divide

A 32-year-old woman died early Monday after driving the wrong direction on Interstate 680 and crashing into the center divider in Walnut Creek, authorities said. Officers responded just after 1:30 a.m. to the area of Livorna Road after receiving reports of a 2003 Mitsubishi Galant traveling northbound on the southbound lanes of the interstate, according to the California Highway Patrol. Michigan man protests violence with casket, upsets residents

Prospects for 2nd straight shutdown grow in New Jersey

Chicago police say slain 11-year-old boy was shot in head

CHICAGO (AP) — Chicago police say an 11-year-old boy whose body was found on the floor of a South Side home was shot in the head. Department spokesman Anthony Guglielmi (goo-lee-EHL'-mee) says police who arrived at the scene early Monday initially believed the boy had suffered "blunt trauma to the head." But he says an autopsy on the boy identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's office as Jechon Anderson revealed a single gunshot wound. Central Illinois to get $7M Ronald McDonald House

The Chicago Tribune reports that Carpentersville made English its official language in 2007. The community is about 40 miles (64 kilometers) northwest of Chicago. Detroit dispute over impounded vehicles racks up fees

DETROIT (AP) — More than 1,000 vehicles impounded by Detroit police as evidence have been sitting in a lot racking up huge storage fees as city attorneys dispute with the site's owner over who is responsible for them. Woman gets 5 to 12 years in crash that killed firefighter

Investigators: Judge resolved at least 13 cases improperly

LE MARS, Iowa (AP) — Investigators have found at least 13 cases in which an Iowa judge improperly used language proposed by winning attorneys as his final court orders without telling attorneys on the other sides.
