Orchestral music out in the sunshine The notions of “concerts” and “concert halls” are so inextricably linked, at least in the world of orchestral music, that it can sometimes seem like an act of daring to take the festivities outdoors. To celebrate the state and U.S. park system, Director Laurie Cohen is leading the orchestra in a series of free concerts in three Bay Area parks: The all-American program features orchestral music by Florence Price and Edward MacDowell, as well as the more familiar strains of Barber and Copland.
